As a redhead it’s almost impossible to escape from bullies, Our red hair is probably the most easy target ever. Many people believe that bullying creates scares that last a life time. I do not believe so. | Growing up, I’ve been bullied a lot. People called me names and I’ve had my ass kicked a couple times just for being a redhead. I felt outcasted amongst a sea of blondes and brunettes. Some people think that this past of being bullied would’ve effected my current life. They even say that bullying explains why many adults have failed careers, failed relationships and limited economic success. But I don’t believe none of that. As a kid being bullied definitely effected me. It made me sad but also angry (maybe that’s where the fiery temper came in) But nowadays I’m over it and I’m proud to be a redhead. Many people focus on getting a high self-esteem, they base their self-esteem on performing the way people expect / want them to. They define themselves based on reactions and opinions of others. I believe that, being successful in life, is not about having a high self-esteem but about self-acceptance. I think that bullying can have effect on your future life but I also believe that it’s up to you to decide if you let it. “The more parts of ourselves we reject, the more important it is to feel accepted.” The goal should always be to accept every quality about yourself: your red hair, light skin, freckles and the fact that you may never ever be able to tan . They’re qualities that are beautiful and unique. Accepting yourself will bring true inner confidence that doesn’t depend on opinions of others. I think that being bullied made me the person I am today. A strong woman who knows who she is. Bullies can say all they want. If you accept yourself, in time they will too. |
